A+ Schools of NC to Host Information Meetings for Potential New A+ Schools

A+ Schools of North Carolina is the nation’s longest-running, most successful arts-based whole school transformation model. Newly released research on A+ demonstrates impressive results in school growth, student proficiency and narrowing the achievement gap. And A+ helps schools to build creative, engaging learning environments that allow students to master the state standards while developing their 21st century skills. Congratulations to Lori Cozzi, 2017 Gerry D. Howell A+ Educator of the Year!

Lori Cozzi, Executive Director of ArtSpace Charter School in Swannanoa, was named 2017 Gerry D. Howell A+ Educator of the Year at an A+ Network webinar on Thursday, May 4. Ms. Cozzi has served the ArtSpace community for 14 years — first as an arts integration specialist, then as a program coordinator, and for the past 10 years as the director. The award recognizes an A+ educator who best exemplifies the values of A+ Schools of North Carolina and its philosophies.

Mark Your Calendar! A+ Statewide Leadership Meeting and New A+ Teacher Training

The A+ Schools Program Statewide Leadership Meeting will convene principals and A+ Coordinators from all A+ schools to discuss Network and DPI updates, provide leadership development and resources for school administration, share ideas and best practices among schools, mentor new principals, and maintain schools' focus on arts integration and the A+ Schools Program. The A+ New Teacher Training will also be held in conjunction with the Statewide Leadership Meeting. Both meetings take place in Raleigh at the McKimmon Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.
