A+ School Spotlight: Saluda Elementary

In the small town of Saluda, N.C., there are big things happening at Saluda Elementary! An A+ school since 1998, Saluda strives to put A+ philosophies and practice at the center of student learning and faculty growth. The school’s commitment to arts integration, collaborative planning and participation in A+ professional development has resulted in high student achievement and growth over the past several years and a positive school climate that is felt throughout the community.

Regional A+ Leadership Meetings to be Held in March

A+ principals and coordinators are invited to attend one the regional A+ Leadership Meetings this spring. These meetings provide a full day of A+ networking, important updates and sharing of A+ practice. Each school is invited to send the principal and up to two A+ Coordinators to one of the following meetings (please click on one of the meetings below to register):

A+ School Spotlight: Royal Oaks Elementary

Royal Oaks Elementary in Cabarrus County completed their five-day A+ institute this summer, and the impact is already being felt throughout their school community. Principal Melody Marsh, along with her staff and students, shared their excitement and thoughts on how Royal Oaks is already transforming their learning environment and how A+ has been a "game changer" for their school.

A+ Fellow Spotlight: Kristin Smith

Anyone who has experienced a workshop or professional development session facilitated by A+ Fellow Kristin Smith knows that her smile, personality and passion for the arts are infectious! Her knowledge of arts integration is deep and her desire to share it with educators is strong. Kristin’s collective professional experience has made her a perfect fit for A+. Currently, Kristin is project manager for the North Carolina Museum of Art’s NCMA Connects program, a statewide professional development program that helps teachers make connections across subjects through visual art.
